Mrs. Rosella Morefield, age 93 of Alto Pass, died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 in the Jackson County Rehab in Murphysboro. She was born November 22, 1920 in Pomona, the daughter of Eugene and Grace Turner Stearns. She married Jesse W. Morefield on May 28, 1940 in Jackson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1994 after 53 years of marriage. Rosella is survived by her loving children, Katherine Fox of Pomona, Norma Bodkin of Carbondale, Sandy Turkington of Ora Valley, AZ., Shirley Dillon-Reed (Ron) of Herrin, William Eugene (Jeannie) Morefield of Alto Pass, James Edward Morefield of DeSoto; twelve grandchildren and several step grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Susie Robinson of Cobden, Lilly (Jim) Williams of Makanda, Josie Jerdon of Mt. Vernon, Carolyn K. Mills of Lake of the Hills, Sam (Pat) Stearns of Marion, Cecil (Linda) Stearns of Buncombe; sisters in law, Eunice Ellis of Murphysboro, Vivian Johnston of Carbondale, Colleen McMurphy of Carbondale, Virginie Morefield of Herrin, Jean Stearns of Marble Hill, MO; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse W. Morefield; infant son, Randy P. Morefield; two brothers, John Stearns and Ted Stearns; and one sister, Violet Ann Shingleton. Rosella was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Alto Pass for many years. She was always a loving servant to her family, friends and community. She dearly enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, crafting and reading. Funeral services for Mrs. Rosella Morefield will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Danny Miller and Rev. Cliff Waller officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Alto Pass. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
