Rodney Lynn "Rod" Petty, age 70 of De Soto, went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 23, 2025. He was born November 12, 1954 in Carbondale, the son of Louis T. and Mary Imogene (Bittle) Petty. He married Brenda Schoolcraft and to this union had two daughters. He later married Theresa Davis in 2021.
Rod is survived by his wife, Theresa Davis of De Soto; daughters, Christina and husband Chris Pratt and Cherrie Houglan and fiancé, James Massey all of Carbondale; grandson, Alexander Houglan of Carbondale; first wife, Brenda Schoolcraft of Carbondale; siblings, Eddie and wife Della Petty of Anna, Steve Petty of Herrin and Kevin Petty of St. Genevieve, Mo; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Pamela Petty and sister-in-law, Patty Petty.
Rod was a member of Dutch Ridge Baptist Church in Pomona for many years. He was a devout Christian, dedicating his life to serving his Lord. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty years of service in maintenance. Rod loved his family dearly, family time was very special to him and always looked forward to get togethers. He was an avid musician, he loved music and playing various instruments. Rod will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Reverends Cliff Waller and Paul Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00 noon and until the service hour at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
