Robert Eugene "Bob" Barger Bob Barger, age 85 of Anna, died Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Marion VA Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1933 in Pope County, the son of Clarence and Audie (Randolph) Barger. He graduated from Marion High School in 1952 and married Carol Kay (Trefts) on December 5, 1958 in Marion. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. He signed up for overseas duty during the Korean War and was assigned to air bases in Korea and Japan where he served as an A/1C Crew Chief. Bob was in the Air Force Reserves until 1960 and, during this time, he worked as an aircraft engineer for McDonnel Douglas in St. Louis, MO, and attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO. He later worked in management for Tuck Tape in Carbondale, IL, and took classes at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Always the do-it-yourself entrepreneur, Bob also oversaw his own trucking company and built homes on the side. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Carol Kay Barger of Anna; daughter, Cindy (Steve) Kohler of Anna; son, David (Mary Anne) Barger of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Chad (Connie) Kohler, Brad (Becca) Kohler, Megan (Ryan) Flamm, Joshua Barger, and Nickolas Barger; five great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Shew of Marion; along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. Private graveside services were held for the family.
