Richard Gene Robinson

Mr. Richard Gene Robinson, age 88 of Anna, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born August 1, 1923 in Sparta, Illinois, the son of Bryan and Reva Hardin Robinson. He married Ilene Pickett on December 24, 1955 in Corinth, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on January 15, 1991.Gene is survived by one daughter, Alice Robinson of Chicago; one son, Robert (Karen) Robinson of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ilene Robinson; and one sister, Dorothe Willey. Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a radio man on a B-17 Bomber which was shot down returning from a bombing mission with ten other crew members. He was held as a POW by the German's until his release after fourteen months of captivity. Gene retired from the Choate Mental Health & Development Center as an Engineer in the power plant. Funeral services for Mr. Richard Gene Robinson will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Stephanie Voss officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call after 11:30 and until the funeral hour at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll P.
