Richard Lee "Rib" Davis

Mr. Richard Lee "Rib" Davis, age 86 of Cobden, died at 8:02 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Anna. He was born May 17, 1926 in El Paso, Texas, the son of John Wesley and Hattie Alzada Davis. He married Allie-Jane Miller on September 13, 1953 in Cobden.Rib is survived by his wife, Allie-Jane Davis of Cobden; two daughters, Paula Sue Davis of Cobden and Nancy Louise (Byron) Cook of Algonquin, IL; one son, Richard Lee Davis Jr. of Cobden; three grandchildren, Joshua Lee Davis, Tara Davis and Caitlyn Quinn Cook; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Rowena Baker, Ruth Wright and Inez Mallory; and one brother, John W. "Jay" Davis Jr.Rib was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cobden. He was a deacon for the Meneely Presbyterian Church in El Paso, TX. Rib also held memberships with the Kiwanis and Optimist Club in El Paso, TX. Rib proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna. He worked for many years as an accountant for the El Paso Natural Gas Company in El Paso, Texas. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Richard Lee "Rib" Davis will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Cobden Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Anette Westermark officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Camp Carew or the Cobden High School Band. Envelopes will be available at the graveside and at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
