Richard Reynolds

Richard Reynolds, age 85 of Anna, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at his home. He was born on April 13, 1938 in Jonesboro, the son of Robert L. and Sarah Viola (Burns) Reynolds. He married Emma Cobb on November 5, 1971. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2022. They cherished 50 years together.

Richard is survived by his children, Mary Beth (Jimmy) Kerber of Morley, MO, Rodney (Lisa) Cobb of Ledbetter, KY, Greg Reinier of Jonesboro, John R. (Rene) Robinson of Rosiclare and Dexter (Heather) Reynolds of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Jordan and Jeremy Cobb, John Kenneth and Lily Robinson, Carson and Reese Reynolds and Michael (Riley) Wheeler; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bon (Linda) Reynolds of Jonesboro and George (Trudy) Reynolds of Oxford, MS; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Reynolds, his parents and six siblings, Sue Reynolds, Jim Reynolds, Carroll Reynolds, Lillian Hartline, Linda Roach and Robert Reynolds.

Richard came from a humble beginning, traveling with his family as migrant workers throughout the central United States. In 1985, he became the general manager of the Laborer's International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 773. Throughout the years, he held many positions with LIUNA.

Richard was a member of Faith Community Church in Anna, serving 22 years as associate pastor. He was an avid reader, especially the bible, reading it cover to cover over 50 times. He memorized many complete chapters. He was also a poet, writing poetry his entire life, eventually publishing a book containing one thousand of his favorite poems.

Memorial services for Richard Reynolds will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Faith Community Church, 101 Richview Drive, Anna, IL 62906 with Rev. Ron White and Rev. Bon Reynolds officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Faith Community Church. Envelopes will be available at the church. Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is assisting the family with arrangements.
