Richard Rodger Patterson

Mr. Richard Rodger Patterson, age 72 of Cobden, died at 1:06 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 in the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. He was born April 10, 1943 in Cobden, the son of James Albert and Alma Leone Williams Patterson. He married Marilyn Duskey on December 30, 1974. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Patterson of Cobden; son, Rodger (Alesia) Patterson of Dongola; daughter, Alva Lynn (Clif) Pike of Charleston, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Whitney Kay (Bobby) Whitehead, Brooke Nicole (Ethan) Toedte, Brock James Patterson, Brandon Earl Pike, and Chelsea Raelynn Pike; four great-grandchildren, Carter Logan Whitehead, Mason Hunter Whitehead, Kysten Brock Toedte, and Knute Alan Toedte; sister, Joyce Ellen Casper of Gurnee; sister in law, Jane Patterson of Norcross, Georgia; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert N. Patterson and Kirby Patterson; infant brother and infant sister; and brother in law, Frank Casper. Richard worked as a State Security Investigator for the State of Illinois. He was a lifetime member of the N.R. A. and the N.A. Hunting Club, and was also a member of the Illinois State Rifle Association. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Funeral services for Mr. Richard Rodger Patterson will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Interment will be in the Rowan Cemetery in Makanda. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rowan Cemetery.
