Mr. Raymond L. Moreland, age 87 of Anna, died at 7:15 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at his home. He was born June 18, 1927 in Cobden, the son of Tullie E. and Afton Stout Moreland. He married Bonnie Boyd on September 23, 1950. Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Moreland of Anna; son, Dale (Marilyn) Moreland of Anna; grandson, Brad (Maren) Moreland of Anna; great granddaughter, Myla Moreland; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Louis T. Moreland and W.D. Moreland. Raymond retired in 1990 after working over forty years for CIPS as a Utility Foreman, and was a member of IBEW for over sixty years. Raymond proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1945 to 1948 as a Naval Hospital Corp Man. He also witnessed the atomic bomb testing at Bikini Atoll. He was a life member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna, serving as past Commander. He was named Veteran of the Year in 2002. Raymond served as Union County Chairman of the Voice of Democracy, he also was a State Assistant for the Voice of Democracy which enabled and assisted many young people of the Community to further their education. He also served as a member of the Union County Fair Board and was the Secretary of the fair for many years. He was a member of the Anna Masonic Lodge #627 and was a fifty year member of the Union County Farm Bureau. Funeral services for Mr. Raymond L. Moreland were at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Scott Harner officiating. Entombment will be in the Anna City Cemetery at a later date. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Navy Funeral Honor Detail. Visitation was 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
