Ray Hartline, age 94 of Alto Pass died on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at his home. He was born September 8, 1926 in Dongola the son of Oscar and Mabel (Goodman) Hartline. He married Susanna Armenth on February 4, 1955 in Kentucky. Ray is survived by his wife, Susanna Hartline of Alto Pass; son, Russ (Mary Jo) Hartline of Alto Pass; daughters, Rhonda (John) McGuire of Valparazo, IN, Roxanne (Delbert) Smallwood of Wheeler, IN and Rosiland Sedlacek of Murphysboro; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, (infant) Mary Ann Hartline, Helen Dodd and Mildred Vowels; granddaughter, baby Smallwood. Ray served in the United States Army. He spent time in the Philippians and in Iceland as a tank commander. He is a lifelong member of the VFW in Anna and the American Legion. Ray has accomplished so much in life including raising cattle and farming, He owned a sawmill and spent many years as an over the road truck driver. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Allen Smallwood officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team. Interment will immediately follow at St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the service hour of 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in Ray's honor to the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW in Anna. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
