Peggy J. Mcraven

Peggy J. McRaven, age 68 of Herrin and Formerly of Jonesboro, passed away at 9:55 pm, Monday, march 14, 2011 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born December 26, 1942 in Buncombe, Illinois to Roy and Velda (Hancock)Bird. She and Howard McRaven were married August 28, 1958 in Cobden, Illinois. Peggy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She co-owned Gibbs-McRaven Shelter Care Home from 1968-2003. In the past she enjoyed gardening, traveling with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Lisa McRaven of Herrin; one grandson, Jory McRaven of Herrin; one granddaughter, Maci (Darrell) Hutson of Herrin; four great-grandchildren, Addyson McRaven, Jace McRaven, Jaeda McRaven, and Dax Hutson; one sister, Pat (Keith) Saylor of Richmond, IN; one half brother, Raymond (Martha) Bird of Fairfield, IL; several cousins, nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Howard McRaven. Funeral services for Peggy McRaven will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 18, 2011 at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Joe Aldridge officiating. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be on March 18 from 12:00 pm until the funeral hour at 1:00 pm.
