Patrick Wilson Treece, age 58, of Anna, Illinois, passed away on October 14, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, with his family by his side. He was born on September 19, 1966, to Charles Edward Treece and Oma Mae Wilson Treece in Anna, Illinois. He married Sarah Ray on July 5, 1997.
Patrick was a graduate of Anna Jonesboro Community High School class of 1984. While attending AJCHS he was a part of the football team that went to state. After high school Patrick attended Southeast Missouri State University where he received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Patrick received his commission in the United States Army where he served 11 consecutive years, achieving the rank of captain and serving as company commander for the Illinois Army National Guard Unit in Carbondale.
Patrick began his career at the Union County Sheriff's Department before moving on to work as a corrections officer and later as a food supervisor with the Illinois Department of Corrections. He dedicated 24 years to working in corrections before retiring, though he stayed active afterward by working as a substitute teacher for a short time.
Patrick had been fighting his battle with pancreatic cancer since 2022. He continued to live his life to the fullest and do the things that he loved such as attending sporting events, hunting, golfing and spending time with his family. One thing that Patrick enjoyed more than anything was duck hunting with his friends and son at his hunting club. Along with duck hunting, Patrick also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, taking trips to hunt more exotic variations.
Preceding him in death were his mom, Oma Mae Wilson Treece and his father, Charles Edward Treece. Surviving Patrick are his wife, Sarah Treece; daughter, Tobie Treece; son, Trevor Treece; sister, Candace Karraker of Carterville; brother, Scott Treece (Laura) of Jonesboro; nieces, Jackie (Zach) Plott of Anna, and Myla Ray of Melbourne; nephews, Nathan (Chelsea) Treece of Anna and Eric (Gina) Karraker of Carterville; great nieces, Calynn Plott, Kinsley Plott and Charlie Mae Treece of Anna; great nephews, Keller Treece of Anna, Alex Karraker and Chris Karraker of Carterville; father-in-law, Phil (Rin) Ray; mother-in-law Katheleen O'Neal; brother-in-law, Mark Ray of Melbourne along with many other cousins, relatives and his beloved labrador, Gabby.
Memorial services for Patrick Treece will be held at 5:00 pm Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Randy Wright officiating. Friends may gather from 3:00 pm until the service time at 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Envelopes will be available at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
