Patricia Sue "Pat" Abernathy

Mrs. Patricia Sue "Pat" Abernathy, age 76 of Jonesboro, died at 7:52 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 in the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was born May 13, 1937 in Dongola, the daughter of Roy and Evelyn Anderson Keller. Pat married Jason Ray Casey on May 1, 1955. Born from this union two daughters, Rebecca Sue and Nancy Elizabeth; and two sons, Jason Ray Casey II and James Roy Casey. Pat Later married William "Doc" Abernathy, on December 18, 1982 at their home in Carbondale. Pat is survived by her loving husband, William "Doc" Abernathy; Pats children, two daughters, Rebecca Sue "Becky" Lehman, Nancy E. "Beth" (Mike) Modglin; two sons, Jason R. "Jay" and James R. "Jimmy" Casey; Doc's children, Scott Abernathy, Beth (Brad) Wilson, and Kris (Mike) Eckert; grandchildren, Robby Lehman, Tara Lehman, J.J. Casey, Lindsey Pender, Jordan Abernathy, Matt and Kyle Wilson; great grandchildren, Curtis Casey, Jude Lehman, Cole and Shelby Pender; one brother, Larry (Brenda) Keller; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother Michael; and brother, James Keller. Pat was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna for many years. She worked as a telephone operator for General Telephone Company and later retired from CIPS as a meter reader. She loved to garden and was a member of the Anna-Jonesboro Garden Club. Pat had a big heart and giving soul, she wanted to make everything beautiful. She loved her family and friends, and would do anything for them. Pat will be forever missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Sue "Pat" Abernathy will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Jimmy Keller officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution to the Anna-Jonesboro Garden Club would help fund a memorial to honor Pat in one of her favorite places, "the garden".
