Patricia Faye (Maddox) Lingle

Patricia Faye Lingle passed away on March 17, 2025, at her home with her loved ones by her side. Patricia was born to Kathleen (James) Maddox and Byron Maddox on May 4, 1936. Kathleen later married Herbert Modglin, who became Patricia's father. Pat married James "Jeff" Lingle, March 21, 1959, near Alto Pass. Theirs was a marriage of 66 years that everyone dreams of, but few get to experience.

Pat received her Master of Science degree from SIUC and taught biology at Murphysboro High School until she retired. After retiring from teaching, she worked at the SIU School of Medical Research. Pat and Jeff enjoyed their retirement by spending winters in Naples and back home golfing, camping, always planting trees and flowers, and going out with friends.

Pat is survived by the love of her life, Jeff. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Jim Nash; sisters-in-law Sarah Barnhart and Carolyn Lingle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard (Rick) and Ruby Lingle; nieces and nephews, Jamie Nash-Mayberry, Jean Modglin, Carol Clary, Mary Nash-Swink, Mike Barnhart, Cindy Elledge, Chuck Barnhart, Carla Lovell, Jay Lingle, Dana Grover, David Lingle, Christina Housewirth, Becky Bartelsmeyer and Philip Lingle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers-in-laws Bill Barnhart, John Lingle and Earl Lingle, and her sister-in-law, Patsy Lingle.

The family would like to publicly thank the magnificent caretakers who have been there through these last few months, Tammy Schemonia, Brittney Howell, Marilyn Mathew, Carol Clary, and Suzie Murray. We also would like to thank Hospice of Southern Illinois, nurse Cheryl Skaggs.

Funeral services for Patricia Faye Lingle will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Interment will follow in the Alto Pass Cemetery.  Family and friends may gather from 10:00 am until the service time at 11:00 am Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to P.A.W.S., St. Francis Community Animal Rescue, Union County Democrats or the Alto Pass Cemetery. Envelopes are available at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
