He is a Vietnam Veteran and was Honorably Discharged. He also went on to serve the State of Illinois as a State Police Trooper, Union County Deputy Sheriff and Union County 911 Coordinator. He believed in serving his fellow man. He is also a state bicentennial 200 honoree. He is an Illinois State Master Sharp Shooter, a member of NENA and a Clarion Software developer. He completed a North American Master Conservation Course and earned a bachelor in ministry from the Sure Foundation. A quote from the State, as well as the Governor of Illinois, takes this time of celebration as an opportunity to showcase the value of community service, as demonstrated by our Illinois Veterans. "The Honor 200 award nominations were evaluated on the achievements and the contributions made by each Honoree that have aided, benefited and provided inspiration in your local communities and your fellow veterans. Through your past experiences, both on and off the battlefield, you embodied these virtues to the greatest extent and exemplified the meaning of selfless service, courage, and compassion." Oscar's faith was tested several times in life by hardship and he still kept his faith in God. He was never ashamed to say how much he loved the word of God. As this is being written our hearts for our Husband and Father are hurting but we know that he is going home to be with his family. If you know of Oscar H Sanders Jr., he would not want you to hurt for him but rejoice that he did love life and what it gave him.
