Nancy Lee Young, 76 of Effingham, passed away on February 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Nancy was born January 9, 1950 in Anna, the daughter of Harry and Helen (McMillion) Rosson. She married Brian Young on November 11, 1972.
Nancy graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1968 and then went on to cosmetology school; working as a hairdresser for many years. She loved talking with others, catching up on life, laughing over stories, and making connections wherever she went. She was also a loving mother who centered her life around caring for her family.
Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She treasured every opportunity to watch them play sports, attend their activities, and gather together to share a meal. Simply being with her family meant everything to her.
Nancy also cherished the time she spent with her siblings and with extended family and lifelong friends in her hometown of Anna. Those relationships were a constant source of love and laughter in her life. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed going on walks, unwinding with her favorite television shows, and caring for the many cats she loved throughout the years.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Brian of Effingham; son, Kyle of Effingham; daughter, Lindsey (Christopher) Wendling of Altamont; grandchildren, Cooper, Violet, and Roman Wendling; brother, Kenneth (Ann) Rosson of Jonesboro; sister, Shelby and husband John Pickel of Jonesboro; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Smith; and brothers, Larry, Dwain, and Phillip Rosson.
Nancy will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the love she gave so freely.
