Nancy Dodd Housman Thomas Vossenkemper

Nancy Dodd Housman Thomas Vossenkemper, age 88 of Godfrey died Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born the third child of Helen Groner Houseman on April 8, 1938.

Nancy is survived by her children, Freddie Thomas of Winstead, GA, Lisa Eggemann of Bethalto, Laura (Bryce) Ash of Effingham, Allen Thomas of East Alton, and Kim Vossenkemper of Bethalto; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchild; cousin, who was like a sister, Paula Kay Rothschild; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enos Harold Dodd and Helen Groner Coleman; grandmother, Zella McGinnis Groner; husbands, Fred Thomas and Charles Vossenkemper; sister, Ernestean Housman Lamer; brother, Paul Housman; and son, Robert Thomas.

Nancy was a member of the First Christian Church in Wood River for many years. She grew up in Anna and was a graduate of Anna Jonesboro High School class of 1956. Nancy spent her career as a teacher in special education. She worked in St. Louis for twenty-five years, retiring in 2003. After retirement she continued to sub in special education in the district for another twelve years.

Graveside funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2026 at the McGinnis Cemetery east of Anna with Bryce Ash officiating. Interment will follow. Those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
