Myrtle Martin, age 102 of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully with her family at bedside, Saturday, July 26, 2025. She was born at home May 13, 1923 in Marion, the daughter of Ezra and Lora (Allen) Lambert. She married Ernest Martin October 5, 1940 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1995.
Myrtle is survived by her loving children, Red and wife Beth Martin of Jonesboro, Marti Martin of Jonesboro, Judy Martin of Owensboro, KY, Tee and husband Ken Kinchius of Sellersburg, IN, Maggie and husband Darrel Kline of Ballwin, MO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Martin; son, Keith Martin and four siblings.
Myrtle taught sewing and tailoring courses at John A. Logan College and was the manager for Fashion Fabrics in Carbondale until her retirement. Her delicate hands turned ordinary fabric into beautiful handmade quilts and works of art. She was part of a quilting ministry that donated their quilts to those in need. Myrtle loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Mark Hasty officiating. Interment will be in New Zion Cemetery in Ozark. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the Food Pantry at Salem Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
