Mrs. Mildred Louise Gibbons, age 84 of Cobden, went to be with her beloved husband, Ernie at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Jonesboro Rehab and Care Center. She was born December 4, 1927 in Cobden, the daughter of Casey L. and Edna M. Adams Newberry. She married Ernest Gibbons on August 2, 1945 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2006.Mildred is survived by two daughters, Judy (Wayne) Pitts of Wolf Lake, Sharon (Wilson) Dover of Anna; one son, Danny (Bev) Gibbons of Cobden; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob (Sharon) Newberry of Anna, Donnie (Maria) Newberry of Lombard, IL, Roger (Dolly) Newberry of Cobden; one sister, JoAnn Brimm of Englewood, FL; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie; one son, Thomas Gibbons; three brothers, Collin, Frank and Bud Newberry.Mildred was a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church for many years. She loved to sing and play the guitar in church and during revivals. She was a member of the Anna Chapter # 1181 Women of the Moose. She worked in various nursing homes and hospitals, finding great joy caring for others.Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Louise Gibbons will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Rev. Robert Fear officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
