Mellie Karraker

Mrs. Mellie Karraker, age 82 of Anna, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born November 26, 1931 in Union County, the daughter of George and Mary Etta Gurley Manus. She married Carl Morgan on November 1, 1947 in Dongola, he preceded her in death on August 26, 1973. She later married Elvin Karraker on July 2, 1983 in Goreville, he preceded her in death on April 11, 2000. Mellie is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Roger) Jones of Jonesboro; one grandchild, Shane (Sara) Jones of Jonesboro; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Heidi Jones; three sisters, Virginia Lence of Buncombe and Nellie Childers of Johnston City and Emma Williams of Olmstead; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Carl Morgan and Elvin Karraker; two brothers, Wayne "Doc" Manus and Raymond Manus. Mellie was a member of the Church of Christ in Anna. She worked many years at Wal-Mart as a clerk. Funeral services for Mrs. Mellie M. Karraker will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Brother Wesley Hazel officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
