Melba A. Cox, age 86 of Cobden, formerly of Plant City, Florida passed away at The Anchor of the Voyage in Marion, Illinois on December 10, 2023. She was born August 4, 1937 in Granite City, IL, the daughter of Lee Edward and Elizabeth Faye (Turner) Trugillo. She married James L. Cox on May 18, 2002 in Tampa, FL. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2020.
Melba retired from Walmart in Plant City, Florida after 25 years of service. She loved going on cruises and relaxing on the beach. She and her husband loved to travel, especially in their motorhome, making memories in new places each year.
Melba is survived by her children Cindy Fearria of The Villages, FL, Debbi (Darwin) Little of Hickory, KY, Paul Pace of Harrisburg, IL, Ronda Murphy of Meridian, MS, Ronald Ham of Paducah, KY, Becky (Adam) Duty of Cobden, IL; grandchildren Sandy Roye of Fayetteville, NC, Matt (Jennifer) Colboth of Marion, IL, Joshua Little of Marion, IL, Paul David Pace of DeSoto, IL, Chris (Amber) Palmer of Creal Springs, IL, Brandy (Sam) Gulley of Harrisburg, IL, Melissa Taylor of Charleston, IL, Melinda Collins of Brandon, FL, Bryce Ham of Marion, IL, Felisha Bishop of Meridian, MS, Porsha Bishop of Columbus, OH, Ian (Kasie) Ham of Marion, IL, Kyle (Jordyn) Campbell of San Marcos, TX, Dylan Duty of Cobden, IL & Hannah Wade of Cobden, IL, Gabby Mitchell of Hickory, KY; 21 Great-Grandchildren & 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren; a brother Donnie Smith of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James L. Cox, brothers Lee Trugillo & Bill Rose, a sister Virginia Benson, a daughter Anita Carnley and an infant grandson Jason.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the home of Adam & Becky Duty, 300 Bee Tree Lane, Cobden, IL 62920.
