Maxine F. (Bernhard) Ellis

Maxine Ellis, age 87 of Jonesboro, went home to her Lord and Savior, Monday, October 27, 2025. She was born February 16, 1938, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Leo K. and Lydia (Bartruff) Bernhard. She married Ronald Eugene Ellis on September 5, 1959.

Maxine is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ron Ellis; children , Kevin (Patricia) Ellis of Anna, Paul (Tina) Ellis of Jonesboro, Keith (Melissa) Ellis of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Chris Ellis and fiancé Kasie, Courtney (Mitchell) Holshouser, Samantha (Trey) Holms, Jacob (Madyson) Ellis, Julia Ellis; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Jaxson, Connor, Hunter, Hayden, Wyatt, Lydia, Weslynn and one more on the way, other extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Gayla Jean Ellis; siblings, Gladys Bernhard, Ella Mae Haas and infant twin brothers.

Maxine was a member of the Dongola First Baptist Church. She was very involved in the Union County 4-H for many years. Maxine served in various capacities as group leader and home economics. As she herself enjoyed cooking, sewing, canning, and crocheting, through 4-H she was able to pass her knowledge and skill on to others.

Taking care of her boys and all of her grandchildren was her greatest joy. Her memories and love will hold a special place in everyone's heart.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2025, at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Rendleman and Hileman in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kornthal Church or the Dongola First Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
