Mary Alice Russell

Mrs. Mary Alice Russell, age 95 of Anna, died at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at her home near Anna. She was born January 20, 2011 in Buncombe, the daughter of J.W. and Mary Alice Jenkins Barringer. She married Rayburn A. Russell on April 5, 1937 in Union County. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2009. Mary is survived by two daughters, Alice (Donald) Bird of Elgin, Shirley Smoot of Anna; three sons, Ernest (Marilyn) Russell of Jonesboro, John (Helen) Russell of Murphysboro, Richard (Nancy) Russell of Anna; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rayburn; five brothers; one sister; and one son in law, Kenneth Smoot.Mary was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church for many years. She was a loving mother and will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by all who knew her. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Russell will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Paul Sadler and Rev. Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Saturday and until the funeral hour at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church, TIP Hospice, or to the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
