Mrs. Mary JoAnn "Jo" Sanders, age 82 of Anna, passed away at 7:28 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born April 27, 1932 in Jonesboro, the daughter of Everett and Allie Brown Frick. She married D. G. "Duffy" Sanders on November 24, 1955 at her parent's home in Jonesboro. To this union, two children were born, Michael and Sandra. Jo is survived by her one son, Michael (Carole) Sanders of Midlothian, IL; one daughter, Sandra (Tim) Fischer of Mokena, IL; five grandchildren, Toney, Tom, Tim, Justin and Noel Sanders; four sisters, Carol Sue (Ken) Dillow of Anna, Bernice Kaupas of Anna, Betty Jean Dickerson of Jonesboro, Fern Dexter of Jonesboro; sister in law, Carole Frick of Anna; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband "Duffy" on November 24, 1999; two brothers, Paul Wilburn and Sidney "Sid" Frick; and two sisters, Patricia Ann Marsh and Kathrine June Frick. Jo was a loving mother and always was there for her children. She was also a caretaker to her parents and sister as they aged, coming home to help care for them. Jo loved nature, planting her flowers, caring for them and feeding her birds year round. She was an avid hockey and football fan. While living in the Chicago area, Jo worked at the Oak Forrest Hospital as a Dietary Supervisor. Upon returning to Southern Illinois she worked for the Illinois Forestry Service. Jo attended the Lockard Chapel Baptist Church in her younger years. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary JoAnn "Jo" Sanders will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
