Mary M Edmonds

Mary M. Edmonds, age 94 of Anna, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Union County Hospital. She was born September 14, 1927, the daughter of Grover Bismark and Lena M. (Lingle) Lyerly. She married the love of her life Carl W. Edmonds on July 4, 1948 in Hernando, MS. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1994. Mary was adored by all of her family. She was welcomed into this world by her own grandfather, Andrew J. Lyerly who was a physician at that time. She was an active member of the garden club and the PTA. She enjoyed playing the piano. She attended the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna where she also taught at the Sunday School, worked in the nursery and in the treasury department. She is survived by her children, Carl Randall "Randy" (Mary Jane) Edmonds of Anna, Rebecca Susan Tripp of Anna, William Roderick (Julia) Edmonds of Anna, Betsy Rhea Welby of Wildwood, MO, and Jonathan Robert (Ellen) Edmonds of Edwardsville; grandchildren, Joe Collier, Ashley Bellini, Allison Martin, Christopher Edmonds, Tyler Edmonds, Kodie Ritchie, Adam Tripp, Sarah and Katie Edmonds, and Anna and Matthew Welby; great grandchildren, Sadie, Anthony and William Carwyle, Drew Edmonds, Alexandra Martin, Alessandro and Tommaso Bellini, and Graydon and Adeline Edmonds. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Edmonds; parents; granddaughters, Kacie and Kylie Edmonds; nephew, Steve Sharkness; brothers, John and Ralph Lyerly and 2 infant brothers; and sister, Genevieve Sharkness. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Anna Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Darryl Williams officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour of 12:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will immediately follow at the Anna City Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Anna Heights Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
