She grew up as an only child of John Dillow, her father who died in 1967, and Eva (Waggle) Dillow, her mother, who died in 1973. Mary attended Jacksonville School for the Deaf and during that time met her future husband Harold, who was also hearing impaired. They fell in love and married, then moved to Northern Illinois where they worked jobs in a factory. Upon their respective retirements, they returned to Anna, Illinois, Mary's childhood home area, and bought a home on North Main Street, Anna, Illinois, where they resided until Harold's death in 2012. Mary remained in the home for several more years. Mary was very skilled at crocheting and embroidery. She dearly loved bird watching and had many bird feeders. She is survived by several friends and loved ones, including Bonnie Dale and her family who is a niece by marriage. Furthermore, Mary became very affectionate over the years with various caregivers, including Reba Dahmer, who predeceased Mary. Reba served Mary very well for several years. Also, Mary Stroh and Richard Stroh, her husband, were a great blessing to Mary in many ways. Heidi Ruddick and her two sons, Max and Henry, brought so much sunshine to Mary for many years. Elvis Cameron, her attorney, and Kristen, his wife, served Mary in a legal and personal capacity. Mary spent the last several years of her life in the nursing home. The staff became very endeared to her and treated her with much love and kindness. She left this earth in a peaceful way and is now "hearing" the angel band singing, reunited with her parents and husband.
