Mary Kathryn Aleks

     Mary Kathryn Aleks, age 72 of Anna, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026. She was born March 20, 1953 in Murphysboro, the daughter of Clifford Leo and Minnie L. (Schiro) Benefield.

     Mary is survived by her mother, Minnie Benefield of Anna; three daughters, Stephanie Chadd of McClure, Denise (Marty) Hendershott of Kevil, KY, Jennifer (Aaron) Palmer of Cape Girardeau, Mo; one son, Phillip (Stephanie) McHughs of Scott City, MO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Leah Glasco, Clara Trexler, Steve (Vonda) Benefield, Tom Benefield, John Benefield, Robert Benefield, and Jim (Patricia) Benefield; sister-in-law, Tina Benefield; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father; two husbands; daughter, Angie Pirtle; grandson, Nathan Hendershott; and two brothers, David and Paul Benefield.

     Mary worked many years in the restaurant business. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna. She dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren and was always ready to head out shopping with Minnie.

     Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Father Uriel Salamanca officiating. Interment will follow in the Anna Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
