Martha Ellen (Crowell) Rhodes

Martha Ellen Rhodes, age 84 of Cobden, passed away July 8, 2025 at Deaconess Union County Hospital. She was born March 9, 1941 at home, the daughter of Thomas William and Florence (Overmiller) Crowell. She married Kenneth R. Rhodes on September 1, 1960 in Cobden. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1995.

Martha is survived by her loving son, Gary Rhodes of Creal Springs; sister, Mildred Duty of Carterville; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; brother, Thomas William Crowell, Jr. and sister, Mary Crowell.

Martha was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden. She worked for the Village of Cobden and later the Anna National Bank. She had a passion for growing flowers and would spend countless hours tending to her flower and vegetable garden.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Cobden Cemetery with Pastor Steve Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery.
