Marlene Flamm Rich, age 92 of Marion, formerly of Cobden, died Monday, July 22, 2024 at Parkway Manor in Marion. She was born November 1, 1931 in Cobden, the daughter of Fred C. and Mae (Hodges) Flamm. She married H. Gordon Rich on November 1, 1949 in Cairo. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1996.
Marlene is survived by her two sons, Steven C. (Jo) Rich of Marion and Chris (Linda) Rich of Hamilton, AL; three grandchildren, Steven Matthew (Becky) Rich, Jenni Jo Rich, and C. Collin (Erin) Rich; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, H. Gordon Rich; two sisters, Ethel Mae Blunt, Audrey Ann Vitt, and brother, Charles Flamm.
Marlene was a member of the Heartland Christian Church in Marion. She loved having Bible study with her friends at Parkway. She was formerly a member of the Cobden Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the piano. Marlene was known to love crocheting, and later in life she enjoyed adult coloring books. She cherished her time traveling with her husband in their RV and camping with their Cobden friends. Marlene was proud to be part of the American Legion Auxiliary for WWII wives.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with Greg Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow in the Cobden Cemetery.
