Mrs. Marjorie Ann "Margie" Brock-Powell, age 77 of Cobden, peacefully entered into the loving arms of her heavenly Father, Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at her home. She was born at home in St. Johns, IL on February 14, 1938, the daughter of W. Raymond and Freda Wilson Brock. Margie leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband, Loyd Powell of Cobden; children, Grant Hartsock of Carbondale, Neal and Jami Hartsock of Carterville, Christina Powell and Joe Anderson of Rochelle; grandchildren, Jace and Jack; nieces and nephews, Paul "Tiny" and Marsha Brock of Du Quoin, Frank and Martha Morgenstern of Du Quoin, Lisa and Mark Boisclair, Linda and Dennis Martin, Karen and Tom Shiroda and David Brock all of Phoenix, AZ; many great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Eric Jason Hartsock; and three brothers, Lyle, Lawrence and Larry Brock. Margie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden and was active in the Baptist Women on Missions. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed the fellowship shared among FBC quilters. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi where she held the honorary order of The Rose. She served on an advisory committee for the Arthritis Foundation and aided in numerous fund raisers in the early 1990's. She was retired from Medicare in Marion. The family would like to thank JoAnn Sharp of Cobden, Zona Calhoun of Murphysboro and the church family of First Baptist Church in Cobden for their assistance and care. Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie Ann "Margie" Brock-Powell will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in the First Baptist Church in Cobden with Rev. Ed Falgout officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 in the First Baptist Church in Cobden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Cobden or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home and at the church.
