Marie L. Newman

Mrs. Marie L. Newman, age 90 of Buncombe, died at 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born May 30, 1923 in Grand Tower, the daughter of John and Julia Mae Chaney Foster. She married George C. "Tom" Newman Sr. on April 4, 1942. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1995. Marie is survived by her sons, Dennis W. Newman, Bruce A. (Kay) Newman, Tony J. (Pam) Newman Sr. all of Buncombe, and Kenneth R. (Mary Ann) Newman of Dongola; three daughters, Carolyn (Terry) Turner of Buncombe, Sandra (Randy) Brust of Manteno and Sheila (Larry) Craft of Jackson, MO; twenty four grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one brother, W. Joe Foster of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Joan Foster Flick of Kansas City, KA; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded by her parents; husband, George C. "Tom" Newman Sr.; two sons, George C. "Tom" Newman Jr and Richard C. Newman; one Daughter, Vanessa E. Newman; three brothers, Robert E., Kenneth L., and Virgil R. Foster; three sisters, Bonnie Jean Dunn, Vera F. Jones, and Lucille Dunn. Marie was a member of the United Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Funeral services for Mrs. Marie L. Newman will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 28, 2013 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Paul Tirey officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
