Mable Russell went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, Victor at 3:45 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016, in Paxvilla Hospice in McAllen, TX. She was born Mabel Aline Davis in Elvira, IL the daughter of Alexander Benjamin Davis and Mary Jane "Polly" Burklow Davis. She loved school and wanted to be a teacher, until she met the love of her life Ernest Victor Russell and married on June 6, 1938. Once married, they worked side by side in the farming, trucking and produce industries. When she wasn't keeping the books for the businesses, Mable loved music, cooking and children. As a member of First Baptist Church of Anna, IL, she served at Sunday School playing music for the 5 and 6 year olds. She loved teaching children about the Lord and singing his praises. She followed Victor to McAllen, TX in 1968 and became a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She again served the Lord in song playing the piano for her Sunday School class. Mable and Victor were avid travelers. More than once, they travelled from McAllen to Alaska in their Winnebago. As Winnebago club members, they travelled all over the United States and Mable always had a piano/keyboard or guitar available to help get the music going. Most of all, Mable loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Mable is survived by her children, Donald (Ruth Ann) Russell of Mission, TX; Betty (Gerald) Brown of Jonesboro, IL; and Robert (Brenda) Russell of Mission, TX. Nine grandchildren: Donna (Dale) Mason of McAllen, TX; Janice (Doug) Flores of Plano, TX; Kim (Bryan) Bartruff of Jonesboro, IL; Gina Thornbrough of Magnolia, TX; Todd Brown of Jonesboro, IL; Shannon Russell Fernandez of Katy, TX; Ashley (Trey) Hood of Athens, GA; Tim Brown of Jonesboro, IL; Robert Brady (Heather) Russell of Tampa, FL; twenty-two Great Grandchildren and four great-great Grandsons. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest Victor Russell; infant son, Willie Ernest Russell; brothers, Austin Davis; Dennis Wendell Davis; and sisters, Bessie Davis; Eva V. Davis Stokes; Mary L. Davis Landis; and Elva Mae "Pete" Davis Manus. This beautiful lady will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her Great Grand-Daughter said it best every time she was leaving the house, "I'll Love You More Tomorrow Than I Do Today" and Mable would repeat the phrase back to her with a big smile. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery.
