Mabel H. Spurlock

Mrs. Mabel H. Spurlock, age 95 of Anna, died at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in the Anna Rehab and Care Center in Anna. She was born July 12, 1918 in Union County, the daughter of Frank and Roxie Kimmel Williams. She married John Spurlock on May 5, 1934 in Wolf Lake. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2007. Mabel is survived by her daughter, Rita (Mike) Hancock of Jonesboro; three sons, Johnny Spurlock of Anna, Mark (Clara) Spurlock of Dongola, Frank (Pam) Spurlock of Decatur; fourteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren and one on the way; four step-grandchildren; one step great grandchild; two sisters, Shirley Forbes of Murphysboro; Eula (Charlie) Niece of Belvedere, IL; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Spurlock; one son, Ronnie Spurlock; one daughter, Betty Post; and one sister, Velda Lencioni. Mabel was a member of the Jonesboro Pentecostal Church, teaching Sunday school for many years. She dearly loved spending time with her children; grand children; great, and great-great grandchildren. Mabel enjoyed playing the piano and guitar, singing and writing songs. Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel H. Spurlock will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Paul Tirey officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery in Anna. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
