Mrs. Lucille E. Daisy, age 94 of El Paso, IL, formerly of Anna, died at 6:12 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at Heritage Health in El Paso, IL. She was born August 18, 1920 in Anna, the daughter of Jasper and Frances Lyerly Douglas. She married Robert A. Daisy on December 25, 1940 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death in 2003. Lucy is survived by her two daughters, Sally (George) Boyd of El Paso, IL, and Joyce Daisy of Carbondale; three granddaughters, Suzanne Stone of St. Louis, MO, Lesley Ann (Patrick) Quinlan of Prosper, TX, and Marjorie (Rhett) Hillard of Clinton; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Benjamin, Victor, Fredrick and George; and one sister, Fran Jones of Silver Spring, MD; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert A. Daisy. Lucy was a member of the FirstBaptistChurch in Anna, IL, and attended the FirstBaptistChurch in El Paso, she was deeply involved in her church and community affairs. Her religion played a big part of who she was, which lead her to form a Children's Choir at her church while her girls were young. She also held many UnitedMethodistChurch office positions. Lucy worked as a librarian at the GolcondaHigh School and the Golconda Public Library in Golconda, IL. She also was a member of the Golconda Golden Circle, and a Pope County Historical Society board member. She was also involved in the Pope Co. Homemakers. In El Paso, Lucy volunteered at the public library, food pantry, and sang in the church choir. Lucy loved to bake her special rum cake for her family and friends, and made it a point to teach her daughters and granddaughters how to make the best pie crust. Lucy enjoyed spending her time gardening and was particularly proud of her iris. She also enjoyed reading, singing, and watching Cardinals on her bird feeder. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille E. "Lucy" Daisy will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Dr. Tim Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 11:00 a.m. in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the El Paso, IL, Public Library. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
