Louis "Jerry" Basler

Jerry Basler, age 85, was relieved of his suffering on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.  Jerry was born June 5, 1938 in Cobden, Illinois, the son of Frank "Beck" and Lettie Basler.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; sons, Ben and Davy; and his sister Dorothy.  He is also preceded in death by his love, Linda McGee.  He is survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jerry was known by his family and friends for his orneriness, always leaving everyone with a smile or a raised eyebrow.  He had a great sense of humor, a generous heart and a passion for collecting arrowheads.  Jerry also delighted in giving any child in his path a dollar bill.  He will be greatly missed.

During Jerry's final year, he was cared for at the Veterans Home of Anna where he received an abundance of care, love and support. Special thanks also to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
