Loren "Jim" Rhodes

Loren "Jim" Rhodes, age 88 of Mt. Vernon, IN, formerly of Jonesboro, died Friday, September 14, 2018 in Deacons Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on October 27, 1929 in Beech Grove, the son of Loren and Fannie (Land) Rhodes. He married Mary Rita (Collins) on June 24, 1951 in San Diego, CA. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Mary Rhodes of Evansville, IN; daughter, Cheryl (Stan) Hutchinson of Mt. Vernon, IN; one son, Thomas Loren (April) Rhodes of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Brieanna Hutchinson O'Connor, Brandon Hutchinson, Brittany Hutchinson, Lindsey Hale and Jennifer McQuary; great grandchildren, Olivia, Tori, Reece, Dawson, Larissa, Bryce, Maelee, Maia, Carter and Ava; sisters, Wanda Bradford of Granite City and Annie Rhodes of Wolf Lake; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, MO for many years. He enjoyed fishing and doing home repairs. Jim worked for John Hancock Life Insurance Company as an office supervisor until his retirement. Private family services for Loren "Jim" Rhodes were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Jonesboro Cemetery. Interment is in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church, 2826 Independence Street, Cape Girardeau, MO, in care of Missionary Kevin Wynne.
