Lois Joan (Mosby) Mowery, age 93 of Jonesboro, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2026 at the Voyage in Marion. She was born February 28, 1933 in Wolf Lake, the daughter of Fred and Lucille (Rogers) Munz. Joan married Harold Mowery on March 17, 2001. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2004.
Joan is survived by her sons, Bruce (Cindy) Mosby of Jonesboro, Mark Mosby of Anna; son in law, Lea Little of St. Louis; grandchildren, Brandon Mosby of Huntsville, AL, Katie (Mike) Renfro of Huntsville, AL, Matt Chumbler of Carbondale, Taylor (Adnan) Sadikovic of St. Louis, Trevor Little of St. Louis; great-grandchildren, Ruby Renfro of Huntsville, AL and Kinsley Little of St. Louis; brother, Fred (Carolyn) Munz of Fairmont, WV; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Orris Mosby; second husband, Harold Mowery; daughter, Sue Ann Little; sister and brother-in-law, Venita (Paul) Krause; and brother Donnie Munz.
Joan graduated from Wolf Lake High School class of 1951. After working briefly outside the home at Anna State Bank in the late 1950’s she returned to being a farm housewife. Her days were very busy, she ran farm errands, cared for her family, cooked, did laundry, gardening and canning were among her common activities. Joan was a wonderful mother to Mark.
Most of Joan’s adult life centered around her church, First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. Her church membership spanned 70 years. For over 40 years she served as the church pianist and was actively involved in the children’s nursery. Throughout the years Joan was involved in many committees and helped prepare and serve countless meals at church. She also served as an election judge in Jonesboro for many years.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Bill Littrell and Pastor Perry Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. until the service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
