Lois Marie Dillow, age 85, of Anna, Illinois passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by family. Lois Marie, the daughter of Percy J. Hannum and Ella Marie (Hunsaker) Hannum, was born July 17, 1939, in Miller, Missouri, and grew up in Greenville, Illinois. She attended Greenville University, majoring in Physical Education until she met and married her husband, Billy Dean Dillow of Anna, Illinois.
Lois and Bill were united in marriage on September 12, 1959. They enjoyed almost 65 years together. Lois was a housewife and mother for their five children, and a self-admitted lover of babies! Work outside of the home included custodial duties for many years at the First Church of the Nazarene in Anna and selling Mary Kay cosmetics. Lois enjoyed beauty and creating, with her main medium being sewing. She was also adept at quilting, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, upholstery, and tatting (lace making). She was a member of a quilting club for many years and also enjoyed gardening and reading. She sewed both of her daughters' wedding dresses, and all the bridesmaids' dresses for several of her children's weddings. She also took in sewing projects for others in the community. She and Bill were amazing grandparents and took joy in visiting and getting to know all 13 of their grandchildren. The couple also have 5 great-grandchildren, with one on the way!
Lois loved music. As a girl growing up in Greenville, Illinois, she would talk often of her memories with the Greenville Free Methodist Church and sneaking into the sanctuary to listen to the singing. She was a faithful attender of the Greenville University production of The Messiah and would travel to Greenville annually for this event. She sang often in church and was a faithful life-long choir member.
Lois is survived by her husband, Bill Dillow, age 92, and their five children Robert (René) Dillow, Janine (Craig) Boyd, Greg (Rhonda) Dillow, Brian (Amy) Dillow, and Linda (George) Peters, 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, her sister, Rita (Ron) Willeford, and her brother, Lawrence (Nancy) Hannum. She was proceeded in death by her parents and 6 siblings, Percella Reese, James Hannum, Zelda Spoors, Willis Hannum, Herold Hannum, Evelyn Eckstein.
Funeral services for Lois Marie Dillow will be held at 1:00pm Monday, August 12, 2024 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home, 301 West Spring Street, Anna, Illinois with Pastor Trenton Ice officiating. Interment will follow in the Anna Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00am until the service time at 1:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
