Lillian Bernett Cerney, age 94 of Jonesboro, died Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Hillview Nursing Home in Vienna. She was born April 14, 1926, the daughter of George and Genie (Hileman) Harvel in Mill Creek. She married Truman Cerney on November 10, 1945 in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1998. Lillian Was a graduate of the AJ Class of 1944. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro. She is survived by her son, John Cerney of Ellensburg, WA; daughter, Linda Kaas of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, John (Loriann) Kaas of Chatham, NJ, Beth Kaas of Tampa, Fl; great grandchildren, Nicholas Kaas, Gabriel Kaas; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Truman Cerney; and brother and sister in law, George and June Harvel. A private funeral service was held in the St. John's Cemetery. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to The Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro or to St. John's Cemetery.
