Leota L. "Jeri" Manus

Mrs. Leota L. "Jeri" Manus, age 92 of Anna, died at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015 in the Anna Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born May 2, 1923 in Anna, the daughter of James Monroe and Mae Phillips Landis. Jeri is survived by her daughter, Carlena (Loyd) Thompson; four sons, Harold (Sharon) Wright, Terry (Mickey) Wright, Bruce (Susan) Wright and Phillip Wright; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Onida Davis and Ann Strickland; two brothers, Floyd (Ann) Landis and Leonard (Doris) Landis; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Ernest Wright, Jim Hardway and Jesse L. Manus; two brothers, Carl Landis and Jack Landis; two sisters, Edna Vines and Judy Yancey; and one grandson, Joshua Wright. Jeri was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church in Anna, she was a Sunday school teacher for over sixty years. For several years Jeri and her husband James Hardway, pastored churches in Adams-Friendship and Beloit, WI. After retirement they moved back to Southern Illinois and continued to serve the Baptist community pastoring Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Dongola, Lantana Baptist Church in Carbondale and Big Creek Church in Anna. Jeri had a great love for crocheting, at the age of 90 she crocheted blankets for all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild. Funeral services for Mrs. Leota L. "Jeri" Manus will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home with Rev. LaRue Parr officiating. Interment will be in the McGinnis Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
