Leonard Landis, age 89 of Anna, died Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Integrity Health Care of Anna. He was born October 9, 1934 in Anna, the son of James Monroe and Maggie Mae (Phillips) Landis. He married Doris King on September 11, 1954 in Corrinth, MS.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Doris Landis of Anna; children, Jeff (Jeannie) Landis, Greg (Sandy) Landis, and Kenny (Darlene) Landis, all of Anna; grandchildren, Amanda (Evan) Bridgford, Adam (Leah) Landis, Chris Landis, Evan (Kate) Landis, and Ethan Landis; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Bentley, and Adalyn Landis; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jack Landis, Edna Vines, Carl Landis, Anna Mae Strickland, Floyd Landis, Judy Yancy, Onida Davis, and Leota Manus.
Leonard worked with the Operating Engineers out of local #150 and #318 until his retirement. He was always out in the shop, usually building something from whatever he could find. Leonard loved riding horses and often trained them. He became known as the "horse whisperer" to many of his close friends. Leonard honorably served his country in the United States Army.
Funeral services for Leonard will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Pastor Doug Bridgeman officiating. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
