Laurence Junior "Larry" Griffin

Mr. Larry Griffin, age 86, most recently of Jonesboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 after a lengthly illness. He was born November 21, 1927 in Rumbar, MO, the only child of Lawrence Boone and Georgia Whiffen Griffin. Larry spent his early years in Southeast Missouri where he developed a love of horses and the outdoors. He married Erline Carnell in 1954. Larry worked in automobile sales in St. Louis and Southern Illinois, residing in the Pittsburg and Herrin areas for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Herrin and was active in the choir. He enjoyed his horses, boating, fishing and following his grandchildren's athletic activities. Larry is survived by his five children; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, son, Larry Griffin and wife Carla, their children, son, Scott, Brian (Alicia) Griffin and thier children, Brynlee, Brantly and Kyle; daughter, Terry Griffin and her children, Jason Bonzo, his daughter, Jayden and Jade Gillis; daughter, Laura Schneid and children, Jessica and Ryan (Amanda) and their children, Addison and Averie; son Christopher Griffin and wife Jackie, their children, Beaumont, Zachary and Karina; son, James Todd Griffin and wife Sheri and their children, James Alexander, Cassandra and Sydni. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Mr. Laurence Junior "Larry" Griffin will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in the New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
