Laura Ruth (King) Spiller

Laura Ruth (King) Spiller, age 81 of Anna, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 comfortably in her home. She was born December 11, 1942 in McClure, the daughter of Nathaniel and Myrtle (Pender) King. She married the love of her life Robert "Bob" Spiller on September 6, 1960 in Reynoldsville. They had four beautiful children and built a wonderful life in Anna.  He preceded her in death on December 26, 2021.

Laura worked as a Vocational Administrative Assistant for over 30 years at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. She assisted hundreds of children with learning life skills, work ethics, and self-development. She also drove a school bus for many years at Jonesboro Elementary School. Her main mission was always to keep "those babies" warm and safe. She was baptized at the age of 16 on October 11, 1959 in a creek at Reynoldsville. She then became a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Laura loved spending time with family and friends, vacationing with her husband, traveling, listening to music, fishing, singing, and dancing.

Laura is survived by her children, Dianne Spiller of Jonesboro, Debbie Sims of Anna and JoAnna (Mike) Galloway of Marion; four grandchildren, John David (Niki) Wingate of Anna, Sarah (Matt) Watkins of Cobden, Josh Flamm of Cobden, Timothy (Kami) Yates of Palmer, TN; nine great-grandchildren, Patty, June, Warner, Jameson, Harper, Timmy, Kaylee, Kaden, and Teagan; sister and best friend, Mary Elkins of Jonesboro; sister-in-law, Tia King of Jonesboro; several cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Lee "Bob" Spiller; three brothers; two sisters; two brothers-in law; four sisters-in-law; one nephew; one niece; her most beloved son, Robert Dionne; her beautiful granddaughter, Amanda Paige Flamm, and one son-in-law, Timothy Free Yates.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2024 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Walter Jackson officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery in Cobden. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2024 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for expenses. Checks can be made payable to Dianne Spiller. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
