Larry W. Britton

Mr. Larry W. Britton, age 71 of rural Cobden, died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at his home. He was born October 14, 1939 in Cairo, IL, the son of John Edward and Anna Irene Cruse Britton. He married Laura Dial Pfau on November 2, 1984 in Alexander County. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2010.Larry is survived by three children, Andy (Brenda) Britton of Olney, IL, Beth (David) Hopkins, and Phil (Linda) Britton all of O'Fallon, IL; three step-children, Kurt (Cindy) Pfau, Eric Pfau all of Anna, and Jean Pfau of Cheshire, OR; seven grandchildren, Phillip and Nathan Britton, Gus Kirchoff, Johanna and Sam Hopkins, Blake and Anne Britton; eight step-grandchildren, Mark, Eric, Laura Rose, and Brandon Pfau, Claude, Jordan, and Alex Wright, Maeve Wright Charles; great-grandchildren; one brother Eddie (Laddie) Britton of Kelso, MO; one sister, Dea Ann (Mike) Crown of Mounds, IL; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Laura.Larry received his bachelors and masters degree in fine arts from Southern Illinois University. He was retired from Choate Mental Health after many years of service. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with his wife.Funeral services and interment for Mr. Larry Britton will be private.
