Mr. Kenneth Snell, age 91 of Anna, died at 10:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 in the Helia Healthcare of Carbondale. He was born July 25, 1923 in Perks, the son of James and Grace Keller Snell. He worked as a farmer, truck driver and in many aspects of industry. He also enjoyed hauling and selling water melons. Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, serving in England, France and Germany. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Southern Illinois and married his first wife, Wanda. From that union, a son, Gary was born. Later, Kenneth married Gilda Brandon. Kenneth is survived by his sister, Violet Lance; brother, Bill (Maxine) Snell all of Potosi, MO; brothers in law, Jerry Brandon and Kenneth Brandon of Hurst, Il; friend, Linda Davis of Hurst; three step children; step grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; son Gary Snell; six brothers and two sisters. Everyone who knew Kenny, enjoyed his stories (whether they were true or not) and his jovial way of telling them. Per his wishes, Mr. Kenneth Snell will be cremated. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery at a later date. A special thank you to Randee Kurtz for her compassion and care for Kenneth.
