Karen Faye Dover of Jonesboro, IL, and formerly of New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away with her loving husband, Glenn Wayne Dover, by her side on Thursday, April 28, 2022, after a brave battle with cancer. She married Glenn Wayne Dover on August 14, 1970, in Charleston, Missouri. Karen and Wayne had one son, Robert (Robbie) Wayne Dover of New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Karen was born October 1, 1954, in Cairo, the daughter of Frank A. and Henrietta (Rainbolt) Smith. Karen is survived by Wayne and Robbie, as well as her mother, Henrietta Smith of Anna; brothers, Mike Rainbolt of Ashland, KY and Tom Smith of Jonesboro; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father; and two brothers, Paul Smith and Silas Smith.
Karen (and Wayne) always offered an open and warm home to their family and friends, making everyone who entered feel special and accepted. Karen's son, nieces, and nephews will always fondly remember her amazing generosity and sincere appreciation for family. She shared her love for family by hosting many beach vacations, serving home cooked meals, and offering wise advice over coffee. Karen's deep laugh, honest conversations, homemade mashed potatoes and noodles, and huge heart will be dearly missed but not forgotten.
Karen retired from Wal-Mart after a nearly 30-year career, working in both Florida and Cape Girardeau, Missouri, locations and was a diehard Cardinals fan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
