Karen Cleveland Bass Demmin of Cobden went home to be with her Lord at 1:10 pm on Monday, March 5, 2012, while surrounded by her family.She was born on February 24, 1947, in Paxton, IL, the daughter of Lt. Col. Earl J. "Sam" Bass and Clara Cleveland Bass. She married Ronald Gene Demmin on June 25, 1971, in Carbondale, IL. She retired in May 2011 from her position as Community Service Coordinator at the Anna Vista High Rise, where she worked for over 14 years.She was an exceptional person; loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, as well as friend. All who knew her saw the light of Christ shining through her by the way she lived and loved others. Karen attended Calvary Campus Church in Carbondale, where she loved to worship the Lord, make disciples, and pray for others.She is survived by her darling companion of 40 years, Ron; son, Rama Demmin; daughter, Amma Demmin; daughter in-law, Janise Demmin; two grandsons, Daniel and Gabriel Demmin; her mother, Clara Bass; sister-in-law, Lynnette Bass; sisters, Betty Armstrong (John) and Ruth Bass-Burgess (Bernard); and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, Sam; brother, Jim Bass; and sister, Kay Seavey Stephenson.A memorial celebration will be held at Calvary Campus Church in Carbondale, IL, on Wednesday, March 7th, at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Dale Crall officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Campus Church in Carbondale. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at the Church.
