Karen Sue Currier Profilet Wallace, age 66 of Anna passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 7:00 a.m. in her home surrounded by loved ones. Karen was born August 25, 1944 in Cairo, the daughter of Merrill "Red" Chambers Currier and Janet Lee Hill Currier. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, William Oliver Wallace, of Anna, two children; Deborah Lynn Profilet-Fontenot of Johnson City, TN and Major Kyle Oliver Wallace USAF stationed in Misawa Japan and their respective spouses, Darrell J. Fontenot and Katie Ledbetter Wallace; three grandchildren, Airman Robert Andrew Profilet USAF of Biloxi, MS, Lauren Merrielle Bubulka of Chattanooga ,TN and Zachary Austin Fontenot of Johnson City, TN; mother-in-law, Margie Wallace Hayden of Anna; one sister, Lynn Rae Currier Webster; two brother-in-laws, Pat Webster of Cairo and Harry Wallace of Port Byron, IL; 21 sisters and brothers-in-law from the Profilet family, Bill Eblen of Anna, Barbara Newbury of West Helena, AR, Patricia and John Sullivan of White Pigeon, MI., Marge and Bill Harper of Owensboro, KY., Janet and David Burkstaller of Venice, FL., Martha Ellen Lankheit of Charleston, MO., Kay and Ted Wild of Gainsville, FL., Sara and Pat Lancaster of Germantown, TN, Donna Eller of Brentwood, TN, Ginny and Tod Ponting of Paducah, Emilie and Kris Martin of Cape Girardeau, John Profilet of Anna and Jim and Debbie Profilet of Jackson, MO, God-children Jennifer Lankheit Porter of San Diego, CA and Tyler Curtis Profilet of Jackson, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Capt. Robert Curtis Profilet; brother-in-law, Charles Lankheit; and sister-in-law Mary Ann Eblen.Karen received a BS from Southern Illinois University in 1965 and MS in biological science from Southeast Missouri State University in 1970. She taught biology at Cape Central High School and later worked in professional development for the Five County Regional Office of Education and served as GED examiner. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Anna, Union County Country Club Ladies Association, Friends of the Cache Watershed Board and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Karen was a life-long golfer, teacher and environmentalist. She also enjoyed art, gardening, photography and spending time with her family and many friends. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 on Monday November 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anna, with Father Federico Higuera officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 on Sunday November 21, at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or TIP Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
