Judy Horn, age 76 of Cobden, died Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born May 13, 1949 in Makanda, the daughter of Earl and Evelyn Morella (Cobb) Lott. Judy married Gene Francis Horn on October 4, 1968 in Murphysboro. They have shared over 57 years of marriage.
Judy is survived by her husband, Gene Horn; children, Gene F. Horn, Jr. and Dawn Marie (Michael) Scarborough, all of Cobden; grandchildren, David (Ashley), Brandon (Andrea), and Matthew Scarborough; great-grandson, David “Tater” Michael Scarborough; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Patricia Elaine Horn and Peggy Ann Herring Nannie.
Judy was a member of the Makanda Baptist Church. She was an avid crafter and quilt maker; she shared her passion for crafting while running a jewelry business with her daughter. Judy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson. She enjoyed baking for her family and friends. Anyone who received cookies that Judy baked knew they were in for a treat. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with David Stewart officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Cobden Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Everyone is invited for a meal at the Cobden Masonic Lodge #466 following the interment on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
