Mr. Jose Jesus "Chuy" Gembe-Cales, age 45 of Carterville, IL, died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born April 10, 1967 in Cherán, Michoacán, Mexico, the son of Pedro and Gloria Cales Gembe. He married Maria Eva Queriapa on April 28, 1989 in Cobden. Jesus is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Maria Gembe of Carterville; three sons, Pedro "P.J" Gembe of Huston, Texas, Brian Gembe and Nathan Gembe both of Carterville; one daughter Bridgette Gembe of Carterville; father, Pedro Gembe of Mexico; six brothers, Baltazar, Javier, Martin, Jesus, Pedro, Miguel; five sisters, Merenciana, Guille, Nena, Ana Maria and Gema; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Gembe; and one brother, Lalo in 2010. Jesus worked many years as a carpenter, and was very skilled in his trade. He always was willing to lend a hand and help someone in need. His greatest enjoyment was his family, he loved music and dancing and seeing others happy. Jesus will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by all who knew him. Jesus was a member of the St. Frances Catholic Church in Carterville. Funeral mass will be at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden with Father Uriel Salamanca officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 to 4:45 p.m. at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. A prayer service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. by Lite Tacderas at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the funeral mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gembe family or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
