Mr. Johnnie L. Middleton, age 68, of Cobden, died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at his home in Cobden. He was born October 18, 1942 in Charleston, Missouri the son of Glenn and Doris Bibb Middleton. Johnnie is survived by two daughters, Angela (Scott) Thieret of Jefferson City, MO and Robin Middleton (Rita Abeyta) of White's Creek, TN; three grandchildren, Samantha, Julia and Emma Thieret of Jefferson City, MO; former wife Janice Middleton of Cobden; four sisters, Joann (Dean) Yates of Anna, Midge (John) Stewart, Nina (Mike) Lofton and Sherri (Brian) Lukes all of Cobden; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Glenda Wingerter and Deanna Walker. Johnnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cobden. He owned and operated Middleton Heating and Cooling for over 30 years. He was a member of the Village of Cobden Board of Appeals, the Cobden Masonic Lodge # 466, the Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, a life member and former commander of the Carroll P. Foster post #3455 of the VFW in Anna, the American Legion Post in Cobden, the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge in Anna. Johnnie proudly served for our country in the United States Army and later was a volunteer firefighter for the Cobden Fire Department. Funeral Services for Mr. Johnnie L. Middleton will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Cobden with Rev. Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery with military honors at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team in Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden and from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 30, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Cobden. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home by the Cobden Masonic Lodge #466. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden and at the Church.
